Biography Corporal James McKENZIE served with 71st Regiment of Foot during the American Revolution.
James was born before 1764, probably in Scotland. He was a corporal in the 71st Regiment, Fraser's Highlanders, during the Revolutionary War.[1] . He arrived unmarried at Guysborough in June 1784 with the Loyalists and disbanded soldiers of the "Associated Departments of the Army and Navy"[2] where he received a land grant of 200 acres, plus a Town Lot at Guysborough.[3] [4]
Shortly after arriving at Guysborough, James married Hannah Larribee ,[5] , and son Simon was born the following year.[6] Other children include John (bp. 1787, d. 1787) ,[7] [8] Mary (bp. 1789) ,[9] Hannah (bp. 1795) ,[10] Elizabeth (bp. 1796 ),[11] Daniel (bp.1798) ,[12] and Isaiah (bp.1791).[13]
