Biography

Lewis was born in 1906. He was the son of Angus McKay and Betty Knight. Lewis married Marvel Theo Smith in Rugby, North Dakota in 1925. They had a daughter together. He divorced Marvel. He was living in Shoshone, Idaho, working as a cook when he enlisted in the army as a warrant officer in World War II. He listed himself as divorced, no dependents, with one year of college. After the war, he appears to have had a child with Jane Schmid in Idaho but the unnamed child died in 1946.^[1] He later worked for the Water Commission in Los Angeles, where he lived when he passed away in 1971. ^[2] At some point before 1950 he married Lena Grewe as he is shown as her husband with her son in the 1950 census. ^[3]

"Angus "Gus" McKay" mentions Lewis McKay working as a water commissioner for Los Angeles and that he married a widow with two children in California, see 1950 census^[3] The unknown author also said that Lewis became friends with the widow's son and brought him out to North Dakota on hunting trips.
