Biography

Thomas Agnew McKay was born in New York City, New York, on 9 Aug 1913.[1]

In 1920, Thomas A. McKay lived with his parents Maude and Thomas A. McKay and two sisters in Manahttan, New York, New York.[2]

In 1930, Thomas A. McKay, Jr., lived at 201 West 107th Street, Manhattan, New York, New York, with his parents, Thomas A. and Maud McKay and two sisters.[3]

On 10 Dec 1934, Thomas Agnew McKay, 21 years old, applied for a Seaman's Protection Certificate. He lived at 201 W. 107th Street, NYC, and his last ship had been the W.C. Teagle, but he was currently unassigned.[4]

Thomas married Frances Victoria Tsukalis, b. 8 Nov 1918 New York; d. 18 Dec 1991; the daughter of George Tsukalis and Marcelle Voisard.[5]

On 14 July, 1951, Thomas Agnew McKay of Sloatsburg, New York, is shown on the Air France manifest for passengers on flight 0714, departing from Orly airport, Paris, France, arriving at New York City on 15 July. His wife, Frances Victoria McKay, also of Sloatsburg, was traveling with him. (The index shows that the airline was Canadian Pacific Air Lines Ltd.)[6]

Thomas died at St. Vincent's Hospital, Manhattan, New York, New York, on 23 July 1969.[1]

The New York Times carried his obituary on Friday, 25 July 1969. It provided the following information: Thomas was born in New York, but he lived on Ridge Road, Tuxedo Park, New York, at the time of his death. He died on Wednesday, 23 July 1969 at St. Vincent's Hospital, Manhattan. Thomas graduated from Columbia College in 1943 and recieved a Ph.D. in economics from New York University. During World War 2, he served in the China theater as a captain in military intelligence, and was awarded the Croix de Guerre and the Bronze Star with Oak Leak Clusters. He was survived by his widow, Frances, son Thomas A. Jr., daughters Frances M. and Michele M., and sisters Miss Maud W. McKay and Mrs. Olney B. Cook.[7]
