Research Note

"I have seen references to his christening on 13 Jun 1706 in Drumbo, (south of Belfast) County Down, Northern Ireland but have yet to see any documents. Familysearch's database of Ireland's Births and Baptisms, 1620-1881, lists a John McKee, christened on 5 Feb 1703 and on 13 Jun 1706 in "Presbyterian, Drumbo, Down, Ireland," son of John McKee, Sr., plus on 3 Feb 1703, at same, son of David McKee. Drumbo Presbyterian Church Baptisms 1699-1723 and Marriages 1706-1721, transcribed by David Stewart and later copied by Zara K. Mettam, 1967. The source is Ireland ODM (unknown initials), on LDS film #823750. How to prove these 3 dates is unknown. " [2]

From THE MCKEES OF VIRGINIA AND KENTUCKY, by George Wilson McKee:
WILL OF JOHN M'KEE
In the name of God, Amen. I, John McKee, of Rockbridge county and State of Virginia, this 26th day of October, in the year of our Lord, 1791, calling to mind the mortality of my body and that it is appointed for all men once to die, do, therefore, make and ordain this my last will and testament.
First of all: I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the almighty power of God. My body I recommend to the dust, to be buried in a Christian and decent manner. And as touching what worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I dispose and bequeath the same in the following manner:
I allow all my just debts and funeral expense to be carefully paid.
I give unto my beloved wife, Rosannah McKee, a sufficient maintenance off my plantation, with a negro wench to assist her, during her natural life, with a horse kept for her use and two cows, with all my kitchen furniture and a bed and furniture.
I give unto my son, John McKee, all the real and personal estate that I possess (excepting the legacies hereafter mentioned) to him and his heirs forever.
I give unto Mary Weir, Miriam McKee, James McKee, Robert McKee, William McKee and David McKee, my daughters and sons, to each of them twenty shillings, to be paid by my executors at the end of one year after my decease. And I do constitute and appoint Rosannah McKee executrix and John Wilson executor of this my last will, and disannul all other will or wills by me heretofore made, and ordain this to be my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.
JOHN MCKEE
Note.--It must not be inferred from the foregoing will that John McKee cut off all his children except John McKee with "twenty shillings." As they married in his lifetime, he provided for all of them. To some he gave land and to others money and negroes. To ... William McKee, he gave "Highland Bell" plantation, and to James McKee the "Red House Farm"...
McKee Cemetery Also called Big Springs Cemetery. Located off Rt 60 on Rt 631 on Clarence Tardy's farm. Tombstones were recorded by Bob Driver, Mrs. Margaret Seebert, listings provided by Rev. Wray Sherman of New Monmouth.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

McKee-1973 and McKee-668 appear to represent the same person because: Hi Don and Bob we need to get this one fixed. Bob Don has the right parents as John and Marjorie. Now the reason I am interested in this merge is because Bob me and my mom match the DNA takers on your profile in the Genesis test on GED match.com at 5cm to 6cm which shows Generations apart. I have only seen this line with the parents Don has. I actually worked on this line before but never put it on here because of a issue that has been cleared up. I think you guys should look at this one again and go with Don's parents.

Hi Bob,

I'm searching for Andrew McKee who arrived in Boston, MA about 1707. He was supposedly born in Northern Ireland about 1691, married Jerusha Vose 1723 in MA, had son Robert b. 1726 CT. There's so much confusion about the various McKee men who came either to MA or VA. So I wonder if you've found anything about the group who came to MA? Thanks!

McKee-1973 and McKee-668 are not ready to be merged because: Pretty sure the parents were not John Mckee and Marjory (Stewart) McKee, though there is some disagreement over two other choices, which are referred to in notes under both profiles. There appears a Kerr's Creek in Rockbridge Co., but not a "Kerns"...
