Eleanor was born in 1768. She was the daughter of Nathan Keyes and Johanna Keech. She preferred the surname McKee over other variations of the McKee / Keyes / Keys / Kees name.
Eleanor married first David Crouch. By her own words given in a pension deposition, they were married on 15 January 1785 in Pittstown, Rensselaer, New York and that they had 15 children, 3 boys and 11 girls.[1]
After David's death, she married Matthew Wiley on 12 Mar 1830.
She was living in Camden, Lennox and Addington, Ontario, Canada in 1861.[2]
She passed away after 1861.[3]
At present, there are eight identified children of this couple, but a total of 15 according to her pension application deposition.
One possible daughter is Olive Crouch, wife of Peter Thornton. Peter and his wife were living in Sennett, Cayuga, New York in 1830, next door to Francis Crouch, who was her putative brother and near Hiram Crouch, another putative brother. In 1840, Peter Thornton's family appeared to be listed in Spring Creek, Miami county, Ohio. Olive's putative brother-in-law Joseph Burch, husband of her putative sister Polly Crouch, was listed on the same census page. In 1850, they were living in Branch county, Michigan next to the family of Edward Smith and wife Mary (Marble) Smith. Mary was a known granddaughter of Thomas Thornton and Olive Kees. Olive was the sister of Eleanor (McKee) Crouch Wiley.
