Wedding

"BROWN--McKEE." Daily Examiner (Grafton, NSW: 1915 - 1954) 18 Oct 1924 [1]
BROWN— McKEE
A very pretty wedding was celebrated at Christ Church Cathedral, Grafton, on September 24, the contracting parties being Mr. W. J. Brown, third son of Mrs. R. Brown, and the late Mr. R. Brown, of Barrett 's Creek, and Miss Bertha May, second youngest daughter of Mrs. Thomas McKee and the late Mr. Thomas McKee, of "Fairview, " Stockyard Creek. Canon Needham, of Grafton, officiated.
The congregation sang the hymn, "The Voice that Breathed O'er Eden" as the bride entered the church on the arm of her brother Mr. C. J. McKee, who subsequently gave her away.
The bride looked charming in a very pretty dress of white cashmere de soie and georgette. She wore the usual wreath of orange blossoms and veil, and carried a lovely bouquet of white roses and arum lilies tied with white satin streamers.
She was attended by her sister, Mrs. J. A. Brown, as bridesmaid, who wore a dainty frock of white satin, beautifully braided, and black hat, and carried a bouquet of pink roses tied with streamers. Mr. J. A. Brown, brother of the bridegroom, attended as best man.
The bridegroom's present to the bride was a gold wristlet watch, and to the bridesmaid gold ring. The bride's gift to the bridegroom was a pair of engraved gold sleeve links.
After the ceremony a reception was held at the Criterion Hall, where the bride and bridegroom received the hearty congratulations of their friends. About 70 guests sat down to a dainty breakfast, when the usual toasts were honoured. The presents were numerous and costly, including a number of cheques.
The happy couple afterwards left, by train for Sydney, where the honeymoon was spent. The bride travel- led in a frock of mole morocain, trimmed with braid and hat to match. The dresses wore made by Miss Batho, of Grafton.
