Biography

Annette McKellar was the eldest daughter of Dr Dugald McKellar, MD, and Annette Clarke. She was born in 1829 in Battersea, London.

Background

In 1840 for the benefit of her father's health, the family moved to Madeira. Her father died there in 1849.

In 1852 with her mother and siblings the family went to New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand.

Marriage and family

On 24 January 1863 at St. Mary's Church, Parnell, Auckland, she married Major James Paul, of the 65th Regiment, and they had a daughter.

Death

She died on 10 November 1863, aged 34, at Auckland, six days after the birth of her only daughter and child, Annette Paul. She was buried in Symonds Street Cemetery, Auckland.
