Of the boys, I think the people you met might have been Philip or Sydney Mckennas children, they could/would be Uncle Christs Gransons, hence the simalarity of christian names. Would be inclined to think (181) Land Grant would be an original and might be tracable Charles Mckenna Senior also took up land at Longbay/Gordon, it was a small holding. I remember spending time their with my Gramma Catherine Mckenna about 30 Mls down channel. Gramma was a very handsome superior type of LADY, with neatly golden hair, I do not know if they were maried in Ireland. Her brother Thomas McHugo married an English woman also. I think young Charles McKenna (wee) had they property eventually but he had no family so do not know, what became of it. Letter from Lola Semmel Author: Lola Semmel Publication: Sent: 09-07-1997 From: Lola Semmel Date: 7 Sep 0097 Text: Dear Andrea As promised I said I would write after being in Adelaide. We had a very enjoyable holiday, returning in time to mind our Grandchildren during the school holidays, actually only 2 days each week. These times we cherish as "little ones" grow up too fast. We stayed with Mont & Gaye Howden in Adelaide and visited Ted and Barbara Mahoney. I mentioned that the Howdens had someone visit who was doing the family tree. It was the "Paynter Family tree she was researching. I have enclosed a copy of an extract from a book which Ted Mahoney gave me. He had only the extract not the book. The following are two contact numbers of the Paynter family. Sydney Paynter 23 Ennis Street, Eaton Westrn Australia Ph: 097251472 (Have to phone, eyesight gone) Sydney's son is Barry Paynter, Phone 0419971351 The other information I have for you is from Bonnie Kenny, re the pages I gave you reading: Charles Mckenna m Catherine McHugo. By the followig dates, Charles seems to be the eldest followed by John then Elizabeth. The dates she gave me recently by phone and the chart was done some years ago. Charles Mckenna (B: Newtown 1855, D: 1887) m. Mary Macrell 1878 John Phillip Mckenna (B: Newtown 11-01-1857) Elizabeth Mckenna (B: 29-07-1858, D: Melbourne 1943) m. Arthur Tulloch 11-09-1885 in Hobart (Newtown) Imelda Elizabeth was their 4th child, (Bonnie's mother) B. Hobart 30-12-1890, D. Melbourne 24-11-1992 m. Morgan Patrick Kenny 17-11-1912 at St Josephs, Hobart. Margaret Therese Mckenna (B: 16-06-1859, D: 14-02-1898) Jane Mckenna (B: 27-05-1861) m. Horlock Mary Mckenna m. Sexton Catherine Mckenna (B: Newtown 25-12-1864) m. Arthur Currie When I go to Bonnies place next time, I'll ask to see the papers and dates, hopefully sort it out properly. I have enclosed a photo of your Great Grandfather with his mother Mary and his sister Roase. Sorry about my notes of the back of it. I wrote that on a long time ago because i thought my children would not know who was in the photo. You can have it as I have a few more photos of them taken at different times. We wish you well with the family research, and hope to hear from you when you have an update. Sincerely Lola.
