Biography

Sarah Elizabeth McKinney in Chambers Co. AL. Sarah b. 22 Sep 1832 AL d. 19 Jan 1903, Delta, Randolph County, Alabama, buried in Old Cool Springs Cemetery also known as the Kerr Family Cemetery. Sarah Elizabeth McKinney Satterwhite was the daughter of Eli McKinney. She m. 19 Dec 1850, William Jackson Satterwhite, CSA b. 25 July 1825 in Georgia d. 22 April 1863, Academy Hospital Chattanooga, TN. Found in Chattanooga Confederate Cemetery record where William is buried, killed at Murfreesboro, 31 Dec. 1862, W. J. Satterwhite, Company G. 22nd Infantry Regiment, Alabama. Which date of death is correct is unknown. May have died of typhoid pneumonia. He appears in the 1860 census of Randolph Co., AL, living next door to Yancy Satterwhite. A descendant of one of William’s slaves, Annie Satterwhite, was the mother of Willie Mays the famous baseball player.

Sarah Elizabeth was born about 1838. Sarah is the child of Eli McKinney and Nancy Gresham. [1]
