Biography

William Albertus McKinney was born on November 16, 1827 in Estill County, Kentucky to John McKinney and Cinderella Sharp McKinney. William's father died while he was quite young.

His mother married Archibald N. Stewart on April 20, 1835 in Estill County, Kentucky. The Stewarts and McKinneys moved to Missouri in 1854.

William married Eliza Ann Rippeto in 1857 in either Missouri or Kansas. Both families lived at the border of the two states. William purchased land in a little area of Oxford Township known as Kenneth, Kansas. see page 88 of the Atlas Map of Johnson County for the plat map.

William Albertus McKinney and Joel Wells founded the New Santa Fe Christian Church located in New Santa Fe, Missouri.

William passed away on January 12, 1900 in Kenneth, Johnson County, Kansas. He was buried in the New Santa Fe Cemetery located in what is now southwest Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. Find A Grave Memorial# 7955857
