Biography

John McLain was born on April 9, 1801[1] in Pennsylvania[2] to William McLain and Mary Barker

John married Mary Kettering around 1823.

According to the 1850 census, John lived with Mary and their children, Jacob, Barbara, John, Juliann, William, Adam, David, Henry, and Samuel in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.[2]

John died on February 24, 1871. He is buried in the New Buda Cemetery in Davis City, Iowa.[1]
