DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Rachel by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Rachel:
According to this profile, Rachel was born in 1800 in Russell County, Virginia to Hugh Edward McLaughlin and Jane Wiley. But almost all the other children of Hugh and Jane were born in Bath County, including children born years before and after Rachel's birth. Hugh and Jane also reportedly had a son, Hiram the same year as Rachel. Hiram is said to have been born in Virginia, but his county of birth is unknown.
I'd suggest that Hugh and Jane probably weren't Jane's parents and should be marked "uncertain".
