Note

Page 65 found here - http://www.workmanfamily.org/histories/sayre/index.html is information that makes it very hard to accept that Hugh McMahon and Agnes Norton are actually her parents. For this reason I have removed them. Yes, there is a marriage record for Hugh McMahon and Agnes Norton, but nothing to suggest they are her parents. Please, if you can find proof that they are her parents, please provide it. _________________________________________________________________

FamilySearch has further research hints. Her LNAB is disputed/many variations.

  • Joseph Workman (second Generation and father of Moses, above), was the son of Abraham Workman. According to Pennsylvania Archives, Series 5, Vol. 1, he enlisted in the Chester County, Pennsylvania Regiment of Captain Paul Jackson. According to this record, Joseph was 5’8" tall and of thin visage. He gave his age as 21 years. The date was 6 May, 1758, and shows his place of birth as New Jersey. This record indicates that he was born circa 1736.
  • Joseph married Phoebe McRay, the daughter of Hugh Mecmeher (his name on her marriage record) on 4 August, 1761 at Christ Lutheran Church in York County, Pa.

it is highly doubtful she has any connection at all to Hugh McMahon and Agnes Norton. We really should consider removing them completely from this profile. Although I can remove them (as currently a profile manager) - I would much prefer a dialog as to why they are still connected with no sources at all. Her marriage record only states that Hugh Mecmeher was her father. I believe this myth has taken a life of its own and needs to stop here. Please reply here or feel free to message me.

I only received one response to my query. I have now removed them as her parents as there is absolutely no proof that they were her parents. If you can provide a primary source, please do so. Thank you

McMahon-1285 and McCray-952 appear to represent the same person because: Again, system simply did not suggest the match. I just made the profile

McCmeher-1 and McMahon-1285 appear to represent the same person because: There is sufficient evidence to prove these two people are one in the same. The McMahon’s were active in Monaghan, Ireland for many generations and the county was ruled by Ulster Gaelic Lord McMahon as far back as 1416.
