Charles was born in 1918 at "The Shades" Molong, New South Wales, Australia. He was the son of John McMahon and Catherine Barnes [1]

Charles married Elsie Stevenson at Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia. [2]

He served in the Australian Army during WWII - Service No. N100950 [3]

Charles married Nola Sims at Randwick, New South Wales, Australia in 1956 [4]

Charles passed in 1999 at Bathurst Base Hospital, New South Wales, Australia. [5]

Charlie's parents divorced when he was 4 or 5 years old. His mother, Catherine travelled to Sydney with her daughter Irene and pursued her love of working in the theatre industry. At some stage Catherine purchased a hotel in Sydney which she ran. Allen was to stay in Molong region with his father, John, and the other two sons went to stay with Aunts and Uncles. Charlie went to Forbes with Kitty and her soon to be husband John Hall. They were always short of food, especially when the Hall children started arriving. He talked of catching rabbits for food. When he went back with his father at 'The Shades' Molong, he mentioned travelling to school and back on a horse and cart, an hour or so each way. He left school when he was 10.

Mechanic and workshop foreman manager, and later as Panel shop manager from 1952 to 23 Sep 1983 at Macquarie Motors, Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia. He had the unusual ability to panel beat vehicle panels, restore vehicles, on occasions combining two or more vehicles into one, and preparing vehicles for spray painting as well as the mechanical work and roadside assist. He restored an old Harley Davidson pedal start motorbike as a gift to his brother Allen, which, in 2023 is still in working order.

Lived at 15 Monty Walk, Bathurst, the residence of Ian and Kath Salcole, before marriage to Nola. Witnesses to marriage were Ian Salcole and Alice Kent. After married lived in 58 Stanley Street, 247 Browning Street, Bathurst, and 34 George Street, Bathurst.

Original committee member of Bathurst Rugby League Club Bowling Club, which greens were officially opened on Sunday May 20th, 1965. Justice of the Peace, ref 69/15 Government gazette No. 10, 21/01/1969. Worked at Gurdon Motors and then Macquarie Motors in Bathurst as mechanic and later Workshop Manager. Left Bathurst, in 1983 to live at The Entrance, New South Wales. Suffered Heart Aneurism and returned to Bathurst in December 1988, to live at 47 View Street, Kelso, until death in 1999.
