Biography

Alexander was born in 1706. It is inferred that he was born in Kent County, Delware. The first record of him is in St. Paul's Parish, Baltimore, Maryland. He appears in the parish register at the birth of his son Matthew on June 12, 1728.[1]

Alexander obtained 100 acres of land in 1728: ____ _____ Blunder ____ Know ye that for an and in consideration that Alexander Mackmillion of Baltimore County in our province of Maryland _____ and unto him one hund acres of land within our said province by virtue of a warrant for that quantity granted him the 4th(?) day of August Seventeen Hundred Twenty Eight as appears in our land office and before _____ _____ and found at ____ in our ____ of ____ _____ our province ____ the fifth day of April Sixteen Hundred Eighty Four ____ ____ in our said province together with ____ _____ _____ are made by one _____ landlord bearing on this fourth day of _____ Sixteen Hundred and Eighty Six together also with We do ____ _____ grant unto the said Alexander Mackmillion all that tract or parcel of land called Blunder line in ____ ____ ____ beginning at these bounds Black Oaks Standing at the end of the south ____ of a grant of land called Craymore(?) running thence east one hundred thirty four perches then south thirty degrees east forty perches then east forty six perches then south seventy perches then west one hundred perches then north sixty five degrees west seventy five perches then by a direct line to the first bounded ____ containing ____ ____ for one hundred acres of land[2]

Alexander obtained another 100 acres on June 10, 1734 called the Blunder Tract.[3] He is listed along with his wife and children.[4]

Alexander moved his family to Granville County, North Carolina by 1748.In that year he is noted as one of the chain bearers in several grant surveys.[5]

He obtains some portion of a 640 acre grant in 1751, although the exact amount is confusing in the record.

1751 April 25. Alexr McMilian. Warrant to Messrs Churton & Weldon to survey 640 acres on Anderson Swamp joining a branch below Horse Pen including Jacob Lewis's cabin. Entered 8 Feb 1750. On the back was written: Alex McMillian or B Simmons 265 acres grant 25 August 1760.[6]

Alexander writes his will in Februay of 1761 and passes away before May 12, 1761 when it was proven.

In the name of God amen I Alexander McMillion being very sick and weak in body but of sound memory blessed be God do this first day of February in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred sixty and one make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following That to say| I lend unto my wife Phebe McMillion my home and plantation and all my goods and chattels during hir life and after hir decese I give unto my son Amon McMillion my plantation including one hundred acres of land. I give unto my son Alixander McMillion one hundred acres of land more or less joining to the above nomenatee Amon McMillions land. My desire is that my wife Phebe McMillion provid and give unto my son Henry Butler McMillion one hors. And after my wifs dcese I give unto my son Matthew McMillion one pistole. I lickways give unto my daughter Susaneh Beckham one pistole. I give unto my daughter Yourrath Basket one pistole. I likeways desire that all my goods and chattels after my wife Phebe McMillion shall leave this life, may be equally divided amongst all my younger children. And I make and ordain my two sons Matthew and James McMillion executors of this my last will and testament. In witness where of I the said Alexander McMillion have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal this day and year above written.
