The Ballarat Courier (Vic. : 1869 - 1885; 1914 - 1918) Fri 1 Jul 1881 Page 4 SEBASTOPOL POLICE COURT. Margaret Featherstone was fined 15s and1s 6d costs for having neglected for the third time to send her son to school a sufficient number of days for the quarter ending 31st March. The necessary evidence was tendered by Mr Allen, the truant officer. (I suspect she was Irish, who didn't seem to believe in education, from my extensive research; this 'plays' out with the burial of daughter Margaret)[1]
