MARY WAS BORN 17 APR 1837 (YEAR VARIES 1838,1839)PROBABLY IN DARLINGTON CO.,SOUTH CAROLINA. HER PARENTS WERE BLANEY HARPER MC NEESE AND PENELOPE PARROTT.IN 1855,SHE MARRIED JAMES P. BEST OF DARLINGTON CO.,S.C. THE BEST CHILDREN WERE SAMUEL E. BEST , ABT 1856; BENJAMIN BEST, 1858; JESSE BLAYNE BEST, 1860 ; AND IDA BEST, 1862 .... PRIOR TO, 1865 SHE LOST JAMES P. IN THE CIVIL WAR. WE DO KNOW THAT HE WAS A P.O.W. AND DIED FROM SICKNESS OR INJURY HE SUFFERED DURING THOSE YEARS SHE MARRIED JOHN WESLEY THOMAS, A FRIEND BY 1865-66. SOMETIME AFTER THEIR MARRIAGE, THEY MOVED TO TEXAS. CHILDREN BORN TO THIS UNION ARE: ROBERT E.THOMAS, 1966 ; AND JAMES BOYCE THOMAS, 1869. TEXAS DEATH INDEX LISTS THAT SHE DIED 25 MARCH 1914.
