Biography

Jane Marie McNeil was born May 1864 in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Her parents were Angel and Jennie. ^[1]

She entered the United States in 1880 and was working as a domestic in Beverly, Massachusetts.

She married Lawrence O'Neil 28 July 1885 in Beverly by William H. Ryan, clergyman of Beverly. ^{[1] [2]}

After her marriage, Jennie lived with her husband and father-in-law in Gloucester, first at 48 Friend St., then at 46 Park St., then at 15 Perkins and finally at 330 Main Street. The couple then moved to 15 Swan St. Boston by 1893. In 1894, at 38 West Fifth St. That year William O'Neil moved to 473 Commercial St. Jennie and Lawrence moved by 1895 to 25 Decatur St., in Charlestown and in 1897 they were living at 2 Scotts Ct., in Charlestown.

In the early part of 1900 they were living at 46 Tufts St., Charlestown but when the census was taken that year they were at 169 Maverick Street, East Boston with their family of four children. ^[3]

Her husband, Lawrence O'Neil died 24 September 1902. His funeral was held in his home at 228 Everett St., East Boston.

Jennie was living at 107 Rossmore Rd., Jamaica Plain when she died in Boston 28 October 1927. Jane O'Neil's estate was appraised at $515.00. Ellen M. Donahue was named Administratrix of her mother's estate.
