Biography

Alexander was born prior to 1707 in Scotland (presumed). He died between 1 NOV 1778 and 19 NOV 1781 in Culpeper, Virginia.[1]

DNA

Extensive Y-DNA testing was completed on direct male descendants of Alexander McQueen. The results are shared on the McQueen DNA Study at Family Tree DNA (www.ftdna.com). Findings prove he DID NOT share the same Y-DNA signature as Dugal McQueen of MD, suggesting they DID NOT share the same paternal lineage and therefore can not be biological brothers as many earlier genealogies have claimed.

The study has shown Alexander McQueen's descendants Y-DNA profile is very similar to the descendants of the McQueen Clan Chieftain, whose descendant now lives in New Zealand. It also proves a paternal relationship to Daniel McQueen d ca 1790 in the Horry District of South Carolina. Further research is needed to connect these three families to their common patriarch.
