Biography

Isabelle was the wife of Rev. John Drew, a farmer in Jackson County, Kentucky. Their children were Napoleon, Sarah, Lucinda, John, Martha, Catherine, James, Eliza, Thadeus, Isaac, Benjamin.

The informant was Ben Drew with his address listed as "Eglund" [actually Eglon, KY]. [1] Isabell was buried in Pine Grove cemetery. The name on her gravestone is Isabell Moore Drew. [2]

Isabell was born on 25 December 1831 in Jackson, Kentucky, United States.

In 1880 Isabell was living in Horse Lick, Jackson, Kentucky. Age: 48-49

Isabell died at the age of 81 on 14 January 1913 in Jackson, Kentucky. Age: 81 Isabell was buried after 14 January 1913 in Pine Grove, KY.

  • Title: 1880 United States Federal Census Publication: MyHeritage Text: The 1880 census contains records of families living in the United States and its territories during the latter half of the Great Westward Migration. Thirty-eight states were included in the 1880 census, plus the territories of: Arizona, Dakota, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. Non-organized Alaska was also enumerated, but the "Indian Territory" (now Oklahoma) was not enumerated for non-Indians. Federal census takers were asked to record information about every person who was in each household on the census day. A census taker might have visited a house on a later date, but the information he collected was supposed to be about the people who were in the house on the census day. The basic census enumeration unit was the county. Each county was divided into enumeration districts, one for each enumerator. The completed forms were sent to the Commerce Department’s Census Office in Washington, D.C.Federal censuses are usually reliable, depending on the knowledge of the informant and the care of the census enumerator. Information may have been given to a census taker by any member of the family or by a neighbor. Some information may have been incorrect or deliberately falsified. Thanks for your interest in this person, but James Moore and Isabella McQueen were not her parents..

The McQueen's and Moore's are very confusing. John McQueen had 2 daughters (among several children), Sarah (1815-1889) and Isabella (1808-1862). The latter married James W Moore, and they had a daughter Isabelle (1833 - ). Sarah had a daughter apparently out of wedlock, Isabell (1831-1913), my great-grandmother, Sarah then married Aaron Parrish and had several more children. My Isabell married John Drew, and they lived in Jackson Co. James Whitehead Moore's Isabelle married a Reynolds, and they lived in Owsley Co. My Isabell's maiden name is given as McQueen on the KY marriage record with John Drew, also on the birth record of their son Andrew in 1853, on her death certificate, where the information was provided by my grandfather Ben, her son, also on Ben's death certificate. There are other indications that she at times gave her maiden name as Moore, and the recent gravestone in Pine Grove Cemetery says Isabell Moore Drew. I don't know what the original gravestone said, or exactly when the current one was placed. By appearance, I believe the current one must have been before 1982 but after 1960. There are family stories that her father was a Moore, but I have found nothing to indicate which of the many Moore's in the area it might have been. Ben would have known his grandmother, and it is highly unlikely that he would have the wrong name for her.

Hi

I have information on Isabell Moore Drew. Last name is Moore parents were Isabella "Ibby" McQueen b April 9 1807 -July 29,1833 and James L" Jimmy Whitehead Moore B. Oct. 18 1804 -d may 2 1891, Married Aug. 2 or Feb. 26 1827 two dates listed. Not sure why Sarah is listed as mother but could be mistaken as are many dates and names of parents in the McQueen family are. See find a grave memorial 25798061 for Father of Isabell Moore Drew she is not listed as a child, but her mother is as his first wife. There were 3 children. The other two are William Philpot Moore and James Moore Jr.

There is a Sarah "Sally" McQueen born Abt. 1817 - d. aft. 1880, who married Aaron Parris on August 1837, daughter of John and Mary Polly Allendale/Allender McQueen and had 7 children.

Does say on rootsweb that she was married to a Moore First Name Unknown? But nothing to confirm marriage, so the child could have been born to mother Sarah at about age 14 and raised by sister Isabella Ibby McQueen Moore. Name would not be Moore McQueen Not sure where this information came from. Her grave does say Isabell Moore Drew not McQueen. Thank you Dunn
