Parmelia (or Permelia) McWhorter was 5 yeas old at the time of the 1870 Census, so her birth date is estimated as 1865.

1870 U.S. Federal Census

James McWhorter, age 41, was a farmer with real estate worth $2500 and personal property worth $1200. He was married to Mary A. McWhorter, age 37. They had six children: William B., age 16; Charles , age 14; Jourdin, age 11; Parmelia, age 5; Elizabeth, age 3; and James, age 1. William, Charles, and Jourdin were in school in 1870. All family members had been born in Kentucky. [1]

1880 U.S. Federal Census

In 1880, James McWhorter, age 52, continued farming in Casey County. The family living on the farm included his wife Mary A. McWhorter, age 49, and their children: [William?] Butler, age 27; Jordan, age 22; Permelia E., age 16; Betty [Elizabeth] J.; age 13; James W., age 10; and Henry C.,age 7. Butler and Jordan were also farmers. [2]

1882 Marriage to O. B. Estes

Permilia McWhorter and O. B. Estes were married September 7, 1882 in Liberty, Casey County, Kentucky. [3]

Evidence: Permilia Estes provided information for Jordan McWhorter's death certificate, linking her closely to the James W. McWhorter family.
