The James McWilliams family was living in Lima, Adams, Illinois in 1850.[1] James was farming and had real estate valued at $1450. The home included James, Jane, and their children: John, William, James, Robert, Joseph, and Elijah.
Some of the boys had left home by 1860.[2] James and Jane were in the household with their sons, John, Joseph, and Elijah. The others weren't far off, all three living right next door for the next three houses, with their young families. All families were farming. James Sr.'s real estate was valued at $1600 and personal effects at $400.
