DR. McWILLIAMS FUNERAL TODAY

Dr. Charles A. McWilliams, 62, prominent Gulfport physician and surgeon, died Wednesday morning at a Gulfport hospital after an illness of several months.

A native of Tuscumbia, Ala., Dr. McWilliams had resided in Gulfport since 1920 and established the McWilliams clinic for the treatment of eye, ear, nose, and throat in 1940. Dr. McWilliams was an elder in the First Presbyterian church, a member and past president of the Gulfport Rotary Club, member of the American Legion and many medical groups. He served for a time as chief of staff of the former King's Daughters hospital in Gulfport.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Nona Harry McWilliams; two children, Mrs. Archie Dickson, Gulfport, and Mrs. R. Gordon Williams, Poplarville; a brother, J. B. McWilliams, Memphis; three sisters, Mrs. H. B. Palmer, Arlington, Texas, Mrs. T. W Mitchell, Sheffield, Ala., and Mrs. Belle Howland, Chicago.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian church in Gulfport, with burial in Evergreen cemetery. The Weekly Democrat, Poplarville, Mississippi, Thursday, March 10, 1949
