Dennis McCarty was born about 1784 in Ninety-Six District of South Carolina. It is believed that his father may have been Daniel McCarty primarily because records of Daniel McCarty exist in the location of Saluda and Salem Church records from which a compelling story can be made. To date, there is no reliable record of who his mother may have been. Countless hours of research of Edgefield Courthouse records of all the families located near the homestead of Dennis McCarty have yet to establish his mother. ^[1]
