John D. , Sr. was a Baptist Minister, School Teacher and State Senator from Fannin CO GA. He was the first School Superintendent of Fannin CO GA. He helped organize Lebanon Baptist Church where he is interred.

John married his 2nd cousin a descendant of Eli P. McDaniel.
