Biography

James was most likely the son of William Magee and Elizabeth Buckholts. William and Elizabeth lived in the same area of South Carolina as James, and they also had a son named Peter Magee (born 1742). [1]

Research Notes

James was removed as son of Michael McGee Sr. and Elizabeth Hill. Their son John McGee gave testimony in 1788 naming Michael McGee Jr, Moses McGee, and himself as the only children born to Michael and Elizabeth. [5] In the testimony, John stated that Moses was dead; Therefore, the James of this record was not Moses as some have suggested.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:

McGee-1210 and McGee-2298 appear to represent the same person because: Same spouse. Same children. Same parents.
McGee-1210 and McGee-2298 do not represent the same person because: My James McGee 1210 died in Marlboro SC in different date

McGee-2298 and McGee-1210 appear to represent the same person because: There are some slight discrepancies in the dates and locations, otherwise, these are the same person and needs to be merged.
