When I first saw the name Cyntha on the 1910 census, I guessed it to be just another census taker's error, and thought the name was likely Cynthia. But I found her as a child on the 1870 census, and it also says Cyntha. I will now assume that is correct until I see evidence otherwise. All other records found to date (5 Oct 2015) give her name as Alice, so I assume that was the name she used as an adult.
Her birth name is spelled Mcintyre on her marriage record, but Mcintire on the 1870 census. Those are the only official records I have seen with her birth name, but the user-submitted Ancestry tree also gives the Mcintyre spelling. I am uncertain which is correct.
Birth
Sep 1860
Ohio, USA
Source: 1900 census. Ohio as birthplace is also given on other census records.
Source: S2U.S. Census, 1870. Shows her as Cyntha Mcintire, age 9, living in Green Township, Iowa County, Iowa, with parents and six siblings.
Source: S3Iowa, County Marriages, 1838-1934. Source for exact marriage date/place. One of three records for this marriage on FamilySearch.org. None have more information, and none have an original document image. Cites Johnson County, Iowa, County Courthouse.
Source: S4Iowa State Census, 1885. Shows her as Alice Hull, age 25, living in Lime Creek, Washington County, Iowa, with husband and two children.
Source: S5U.S. Census, 1900. Shows her, again as Alice Hull, age 40, living in Deep River Township, Poweshiek County, Iowa, with husband and five children. Source for birth month/year.
Source: S6U.S. Census, 1910. Shows her as Cyntha A. Hull, still living in Deep River, Poweshiek County, with husband and five children (ages 8-28). Document image (Ancestry.com, pay site) shows her as mother of 6 children, all living, and shows them married 30 years. Son James, apparently no longer in the household, would be the sixth child.
Source: S26Ancestry Family Trees (pay site). User submitted. Source for death date/place (uncertain). Tree provides no source for this data. Place is likely correct, but I have nothing to support the date, other than this.
