Ann was born in about 1804 in South Carolina. According to the birthplaces reported for her children, she was in Tennessee by about 1828.[1]
In 1860 Ann is living with her family and two children in Benton County[2] and by 1870 she and her husband remain in the same area surrounded by relatives.[3] This pattern continues in 1880.[4]
According to the above census data, the children of William and Sarah Ann "Fanny" Cole may include:
Dennis born ca 1828, Ruffin born 29 May 1830, Mark R. Cole born 1836, John born 1837, William born 1839, Greer (or Green) born 1843, Sara born 1843.
Ann's date of death is unknown. She is buried in an unmarked grave in the family cemetery.[5]

McKinney was given as her maiden name when the profile was created but there was no source to support this so it was removed. There is a William Cole and Ann McKinney who had a son D.M. Cole who was born in 1848, but at this time there is no known link to this Ann, mother of Mark Cole.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Ann by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Ann:
24 Dec 1928 SC Death Certificate #24464, for DM Cole, showing Sarah McKinney, may have been an incorrect source for this McKinney surname. Dennis Cole, Ann's son, died in Arkansas. I was unable to find any other source for the McKinney surname and suggest it is likely incorrect.
