Biography

Esther was born on 4 September 1855 in New York, United States. She was the daughter of Harry A Mead and Phebe Ann (Guion) Mead.

In 1860 she was enumerated in White Plains, Westchester, New York.^[1] The household included Henry A Mead 47, Phebe A Mead 46, Mary M Mead 20, Jane M Mead 13, Benjn P Mead 11, Esther Mead 5, Abraham Mead 7, Mary Welch 50, Ruth Stringham 60, Amelia Mead 28, and Mary Purdy 48.

In 1870 she was enumerated in Rye, Westchester, New York.^[2] The household included Harry Mead 57, Phebe Mead 56, Benjamin Mead 19, Abraham Mead 17, Hester Mead 15, Inez Hacker 9, Frank McIntosh 15, George McIntosh 9, Hannah Howard 16, and Rebecca Miller 29.

In 1880 she was enumerated in Rye, Westchester, New York.^[3] The household included Augustus Studwell 26, wife Hester Studwell 24, and daughter Agusta Studwell 2.

Esther Hatfield Meade Studwell's son William Guion Studwell was born on 17 December 1885 in Brooklyn, Kings, New York.^[4]

Esther died on 8 March 1898 in Port Chester, New York.^[5]

Research Notes

She died before the 1900 census when her husband was found married to another woman named Hattie; they had been married one year and that Hattie had no children.
