He married Orpha Hobby on June 22, 1788 in Greenwich, Connecticut. [1]
Note: According to Ye Historie of ye Town of Greenwich ... by Spencer P. Mead, "Mary Hobby [sister of Jonathan Hobby who married Caleb's sister, Hannah] married Caleb Mead born in 1737."[3] Unclear whether this is the identical Caleb Mead.

According to the late Edgar Thorn Mead - Caleb Mead was commissioned as a Lieutenant in May of 1745 in the Stanwich or East Train Band Militia. He was a Captain when he and all of his sons except lame Stephen fought in the Revolution at the battle of White Plains.
