Biography

He was born in 1853 in Chester County, South Carolina to Robert Mead and Mary Price. Shortly after his birth, his parents left South Carolina and resettled in Clark County, Arkansas.[1]

After the end of the Civil War his parents moved first to Paris, Texas and then to Lebanon, Texas.[1] By 1880 he has married Sarah Capps and living in Collin, Texas with their daughter, Ada.[2]

In December, 1881, his wife, Sarah, died leaving him with two small children.[1]His mother, Mary Ann, came to Texas to help him raise his daughters.[1]

In 1881, he and his brother, Robert, filed on land in Oklahoma, between Blair and Martha. Cuthbert later bought land two miles south of Martha where he remained for the rest of his life. [1]
