Kesiah MEAD was born about 1805 in Kentucky. It is believed that Kesiah (MEADE) AKERS died sometime between 16 December 1842[1] and before 24 October 1843 when Thomas married his second wife, Elizabeth BALDRIDGE[2], [3] on 24 October 1843 in Floyd County, Kentucky. Kesiah Meade is believed to be the daughter of Samuel MEAD and Catherine GOODBREAD.
Residences, Before Marriage:
Kesiah MEAD would have been enumerated as a number in an age bracket in the household of her father, Samuel MEAD, prior to her marriage in 1823. This means that Samuel MEAD should have had a female about 5 years old living in his 1810 census household and a female about 15 years old in his 1820 census household. In these listings I have placed the individuals that fall within the age brackets where Keziah MEAD could have been enumerated in bold text for identification purposes.

Marriage:
Keziah MEADE married Thomas Blackburn AKERS on 24 April 1823 in Floyd County, Kentucky.[6], [3]
Spouse:
Thomas Blackburn AKERS was born about 1804[3] in Virginia[7] or in Kentucky.[8] He was the son of Valentine AKERS and Frances BRANHAM.[9] His surname has also been seen with the variation of ACRES in documentation. He also went by his middle name of Blackburn in many documents.[6]
Residences, Before Marriage:
Thomas Blackburn AKERS would have been enumerated as a number in an age bracket in the household of his father, Valentine AKERS, prior to his marriage in 1823. This means that Valentine AKERS should have had a male about 6 years old living in his 1810 census household and a male about 16 years old in his 1820 census household. Valentine used the Acres spelling of the surnsme in 1810.

Residences of Thomas Blackburn Akers, after the Death of Keziah MEAD:
Thomas Blackburn AKERS married for a second time on 24 October 1843 in Floyd County, Kentucky.[2] This means that Keziah (MEAD) AKERS was probably deceased by that date. The 1850 census record is included for the listing of the household including some children from both the first marriage to Keziah MEAD and the second marriage to Elizabeth BALDRIDGE.

Children of Thomas Blackburn AKERS and Keziah MEAD:
Based upon the 1840 census record, Thomas Blackburn AKERS and Keziah MEAD had an unidentified female child living in their household that was within the age bracket of 15 to 20 years old. If this was in fact their child and not someone living within the household that was not their child and if this child was born after their 1823 marriage, this female child would have been born between 1823 and 1825. The identity of this child has not been confirmed, but some secondary sources list a female child named Lynchia AKERS, but provide no further information about her. It is possible that this unnamed child found in 1840 was in fact Lynchia AKERS and she either died or married before 1850. All other children in the 1840 census record have been tentatively Identified based upon the household found in the 1850 census record.

1800 United States Federal Census Record Notes:
The 1800 United States Federal Census Records from Kentucky and Virginia were lost and as such cannot be transcribed as such the location and the ages of the members of the household of Samuel MEAD are not able to be determined. It is believed that this census enumeration was destroyed during the British attack on Washington during the War of 1812.
1810 United States Federal Census Record Notes:
The Official enumeration date of the 1810 United States Federal Census Record was 6 August 1810. All questions asked of the household were supposed to refer to this date. The census enumerator also stated that the enumeration was completed between the 20th and the 29th day of December 1810. These two dates are important as they can help determine the ages of the individuals who were contained within the census record or why someone was not enumerated within the household.
The 1810 census household of “Samuel Mead” was enumerated in Floyd County, Kentucky on page number 104 (stamped) and listed on Line 42:[4]
While the household of Samuel MEAD did not contain any slaves or other free individuals of color, the next household which was listed as being headed by Robert MEAD contained 9 Slaves. Since Samuel MEAD’s father was named Robert MEAD it is probable that this other household was the household of his father. If so then Samuel MEAD may have had access to his father’s slaves.
