Farming:
Henry engaged in farming in New York.

Henry Mead was born in 1798 at the homestead Farm on Jockey Street in Charlton, Saratoga Co., NY. His parents were David Mead and Susan Unknown.

He married Ann Harmon about 1820 and they lived with his parents on the Mead farm. Together they had 2 children:

  1. William Mead
  2. George Mead

In 1823 his father died and he inherited the farm. He supported his mother until she died. In 1843, at the age of 43, his wife Ann died.

About 1845 Henry married Sarah Roberts. Together they had 1 son, Willard Henry Mead in 1846.

  1. Williard Mead

Shortly after the 1850 Census, Henry's oldest sons, William Harmon Mead and George Mead left home to seek their fortunes. William Harmon headed for California, and perhaps George went with him, as the record for George ends here. Young Willard Henry Mead was recorded on the 1850 and 1855 census as William in error.

Henry's 2nd wife Sarah died about 1865.

Henry married 3rd, Caroline Duel in 1869. She was about 45 years younger than he. They had no children.

Henry died on 24 Dec 1877 on the farm and was buried in the Jeremiah Smith Old Cemetery in Charlton.
