Biography

Aggy was born about 1755, probably in Cumberland County, Virginia as that is where her parents lived at the time of her birth. Her parents were Jonas Meador Jr and Mary Holloway. [1]

She married Thomas Kevil prior to 1778 in Cumberland County. [2] Sometime after 27 October 1783 but prior to 23 August 1784, Thomas Kevil moved with his wife Aggy from Virginia to South Carolina [3]

The family can be found in the census records of Laurens County, South Carolina for 1790 [4], 1800 [5], and 1810 [6]

On 7 February 1806, Thomas and Aggy sell 250 acres of the land on Little Rock Creek to Robert McFadden. [7]

On 18 January 1813 in Laurens County, Thomas Kevil wrote his will leaving his entire estate to his beloved wife "Agga". [8] Aggy died after 4 April 1814 when Thomas's will was recorded in Laurens County, South Carolina. [9]

Research Notes

According to Thomas's will, after the death of his wife Aggy, his land was to go to his sister Mary Glazebrook and her heirs. The remaining movable estate was to be split between sister Mary Glazebrook and brother Benjamin Kevill. This seems to indicate that Thomas and Aggy Kevill had no children. It is not known how much longer Aggy lived after her husband's death. More research is needed to learn when the moveable assets were sold and remainder of the estate split between Thomas's siblings.
