She married Micajah Compton about 1779 in Cumberland County, Virginia. [2] By the time the 1790 census was taken, the Compton family had removed to South Carolina where they are found in census records of Laurens County. [3]

Anne was still a minor in 1773 when her father died, making her year of birth after 1752. In 1778, Thomas Kevil was paid for 5 years boarding and one year schooling for Anne. This would make her year of birth no earlier than 1757.
