Biography
A son of John and Anna Mann Meadows was Josiah "Shack" died of Scrofula, an early name for Tuberculosis when he was just 34 years old. His eldest child was only 11. He was buried in a Meador Family Cemetery at Dunns. ( See listing for this Cemetery under Web Site for U.S. GenWeb Archives- West Virginia-Mercer county). This writer does not know the origin of the nick name "Shack".
He was married to Elizabeth MEADOWS, a daughter of Anthony F. MEADOWS and Mary "Polly" SHUMATE, on 3 Aug 1846 in Monroe Co., WV. Elizabeth MEADOWS was born on 3 Aug 1827 and died on 20 Mar 1882. She was buried beside Josiah "Shack". Her tombstone says Elizabeth Martin , as she was married a second time to Achilis Martin. Josiah "Shack" MEADOR and Elizabeth MEADOWS had the following children:

- ii. Nancy Jane MEADOR.
- iii. Rufus Green MEADOR.
- iv. Elizabeth C. "Teena" MEADOR.
- v. Lucinda MEADOR.
- vi. Infant son MEADOR died on 11 Mar 1855.
