Biography
Mary Catherine's parents were Jacob M. Mefford (1829 - 1921) and Sarah F. Critchlow Mefford (1832 - 1908). [1] She married Daniel Boone Hanks about 1873. [2]

- PIONEER WOMAN PASSES INTO BEYOND
- Mrs. D. B. Hanks Succumbs to a Stroke of Paralysis After Week's Illness
- Mrs. Mollie Catherine Hanks, widow of the late D. B. Hanks, a native of Missouri, and 68 years of age, died at the family home near Flournoy yesterday.
- Mrs. Hanks suffered a stroke of paralysis one year ago, but recovered and seemed to be as well as ever. On Monday, August 20, however, she suffered a second stroke, and lingered for a week.
- Was a Pioneer Here
- Mr. and Mrs. Hanks came to this section forty-five years ago, and gave splendid help in the pioneer development of southern Tehama county. The husband passed away two years ago.
- Thirteen children, all of whom are alive, survive the mother and all but one are now at the family home, one daughter being ill in a hospital at San Francisco.
