Hello, Helen

My Mell family started in Pennsylvania in the early 1700's, then moved to Ohio, then Missouri. My direct line moved west to Washington State, but some remained in Missouri and Oklahoma. My gggrandfather Eli B Mell had a cousin Eli F Mell who was a minister in Iowa. His sermons were performed in German. Eli B Mell also had a brother, George Madison Mell who lived in Rolla Missouri. His children stayed in Missouri. I am curious to see if your Mells are related. At some point, ALL Mells are related, as they originated on the border of Saxony and Denmark, the name 'Mell' is Danish. Some emigrated to England from Saxony around 1100 AD. I DNA match with someone in England, as well as several US lines. Deb

Hi ,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Guy ~ WikiTree Mentor

Hello Helen,

Thank you for joining WikiTree and signing the hornor code! As a WikiTree Mentor I am available to answer any questions or help solve any issues you may be having.

How To Use WikiTree is a good starting point, and the Help Index is an important place to find out how to do most tasks.

Do you have Royal Ancestors? They are already here on Wikitree! Rather than create duplicate profiles for them, please contact the EuroAristo Project to discuss connecting your family line to their profiles.

Feel free to ask me via my profile page if you have any questions.

Astrid

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add Profiles to WikiTree - if you have pre-1700's ancestors to add please read our Pre-1700 profiles info.

If you need any help getting started check out the help section from the menu, top right, or head over to the G2G forum and take a minute to introduce yourself in the Tree House. You might also want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

We also have Mentors to help too.

Welcome! Greg Hays
