Biography

John was born 4 Aug 1837. He was the son of Allen Melton and Mary Smith.[1]

in 1860 he is living with his parents and siblings as a unmarried man.[2]

John Melton of Kansas, Illinois enlisted as a private in Company K, 34th Infantry Regiment Illinois on 7 Sep 1861.[3]

He passed away in 1862. John Melton [1838-1862] Thirty-fifth Infantry (Fifth Regiment Provisional Army, Mountain Rifle Regiment) DIED: Company K, 34th Infantry Regiment Illinois on 28 Jan 1862 at Camp Wood, KY.[3][4] He was buried and his headstone is at Shiloh Cemetery, Martinsville, Clark County, Illinois, USA [5]

Marvin was in a military record on 6 September 1861 in Kansas, Illinois.[6]
