Biography

  • Rebecca Minard was born 04 August 1803, the daughter of Levi Minard and Rebecca Kempton of Milton, Queens County, Nova Scotia[1]
  • On Nov. 22, 1826, she married Peleg Freeman, the son of Peleg and Hannah Deane Freeman of Liverpool, Nova Scotia [2], and they had children[3], including:
  1. Joseph, Sept. 16, 1827; d. June 27, 1835
  2. Lucy, April 21, 1829;, who married James Roach on December 31, 1873 [4]
  3. Alvan, Dec. 25, 1832; d. Jan. 23, 1833.
  4. Eunice, Jan. 25, 1834, who married John Kempton, son of John Kempton and Susannah Dexter, and had a daughter named Adelia[5]
  5. Mary, May 30, 1836, who married Simeon Perkins Freeman, son of Bartlett
  6. Lydia, May 6, 1839, who died in February 1869, a spinster.[6]
  7. Joseph, Sept. 2. 1842 ; d. Feb. 4, 1853
  8. Emeline, July 4, 1843 who married Thomas Keeler, son of Robert Keeler Feb 3, 1865[7]
  • Peleg and Rebecca appear in the 1871 Census with Lucy (and other children on the same page[8]. The 1881 Census shows Peleg a widower living with his daughter Mary and Simeon her husband[9]
  • Rebecca Freeman, daughter of Levi and Rebecca Minard died June 29, 1873 in Kempt, Queens County[1]
