Ruth Alice Mercer was born September 27, 1888 in Wyanet, Illinois to Christopher and Eliza Mercer.[1,2] Ruth had two sisters and three brothers.[2] In 1910, five of the siblings, ages 19 to 36, were still living with their parents.[3] Ruth, in 1910, at age 21, was working as a teacher.[3] On December 17 of that year she married Charles DeFrance Stanbro in her parents home.[1] The following year, their son was born, Frank Mercer Stanbro.[1]
In 1940, Ruth lived with her son, daughter-in-law and grandson in Mount Air, Colorado.[4] The same census indicated that in 1935, she lived in a rural area of Jefferson County, Wisconsin.[4] Ruth died in Colorado on Feb. 4, 1969.[1]
