There is considerable uncertainty about the name, events, and relationships of the ancestors of Aelfwine of Warwick. A primary source is William Dugdale [1] writing in 1656 who in turn is quoted by Burke and others, but whose own sources are uncertain, and whose accounts often show one person to be the imprecise "successor" of another, rather than the "son" of.
This is a work in progress. Note that while a biography has been roughed out below, the sources for the facts shown are very weak and should not be relied on. Further research is required.Day-1904 14:21, 12 April 2018 (UTC)

Erminhild de Mercia[3]
Birth: 1005 Lincolnshire ... ABT 1028 in Bromley, Staffordshire. [2]
She was born circa 1008 in Bromley, Greater London, England [3]. This error is a confusion between the village of Bromley, in Kent, now part of Greater London, and Bromley Regis or Kings Bromley, in Staffordshire, known to have been the seat of the "Jarls" of Mercia (Erminhilde's family). See citation below.

Earl Leofric III of Mercia had at least 3 brothers who lived to maturity: Northman, d: 1017; Edwin, d: 1039; and Godwin, d: before 1057. Any of them could have been Lady Erminhilde of Mercia's father, giving her the same Surname and similar social status in pre-Conquest England. [7]
