John was a Friend (Quaker)
John was born 12-14-1654 (translates to 14 Feb 1655) in Herefordshire, England. He lived in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. He married 1st Eleanor Smith, 2nd Mary. His Will is dated 7-23-1732.[1]
Marriage
Probably the John Merick whose marriage to Elieanor Smith is in the records of the Society of Friends. Abington Monthly Meeting (Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, about 7 miles north of Philadelphia)
- Whereas John Merick and Elieanor Smith having declared their Intentions of Marriag with each other before two Monthly Meetings, Enquiry being made by persons appointed and found Clear from all others on ye account of marriage, were permitted to marry amonst us.[2]
