Biography

Levin was the son of John Merrill and Elizabeth Pitts

His father died when Levin was a boy, making these provisions in his will, which was written in 1759 and proved in January 1761:

-bequest :-to son Levin Merrill – an enslaved man named Jack. A yoke of oxen, one feather bed & furniture, hand mill, iron pot and hook, 1/3 of pewter, all clothes
-for sons Levin and William Merrill to be apprenticed to some trade and to be under their brother John Merrill’s care
