Biography

Nathan Merrill was born in Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts on April 3, 1676. He was the son of Abel Merrill and Priscilla Chase Merrill. [1] [4]

Nathan was married on September 6, 1699 in Newbury to Hannah Kent, daughter of John Kent and Sarah Woodman Kent.[2] [4]

According to the book "A Merrill Memorial: An Account of the Descendants of Nathaniel Merrill, An Early Settler of Newbury, Massachusetts" as found in the North American family Histories 1500-2000: Nathan lived in a part of town later incorporated as West Newbury. In a deed from his brother Nathaniel dated 1721, both are described as weavers and as third generation Merrill. He is referenced as a "snowshoe man" in Currier's History of Newbury (page 541).

Nathan Merrill died in West Newbury intestate about April 1742. He was 66 years old. [3]
