Biography

18 January 1697/8 married Susannah Pratt[1]

"MERRILL, Daniel (1673-1750) tr 1/wf Susanna PRATT (1680-); 18 Jan 1697/8; Hartford"[2]

Had wives Susannah Pratt[1] and Mindwell King[citation needed]

Was Deacon of the Second Church and very wealthy, leaving property valued at $50,000 . To his son Jonathan he gave by will, besides other property, his "negro girl Phebe" and to Israel "his negro Peter". [3]

No record of their deaths has been found.[4]

Children

Children of Daniel and Susannah (Pratt) Merrill:[1]
  1. Daniel, b. 1 January 1699, d. in February 1698[5]
  2. Susanna, b. 18 August 1700
  3. Moses, b. 25 December 1702

Research Notes

First son Daniel died early and it is possible another son born 1714 was named Daniel[6]. It is also possible that Mary b 1710 died young and another daughter born 1717 was named Mary[7]. Loosely sourced name for son 1716-1784 shows Josiah (vs Israel).

Slaves

  • Phebe

As a member of the US Black Heritage Project, I have added a list of the slaves owned by Daniel Merrill on this profile with categories using the standards of the US Black Heritage Exchange Program. This helps us connect enslaved ancestors to their descendants. See the Heritage Exchange Portal for more information.

Merrill-791 and Merrill-2928 appear to represent the same person because: I'm proposing a merge of several people up the geneological tree from here. They're fairly obviously all the same people.
Can you please provide your sources for this data? All Pratt family records that I have indicate that Daniel Merrill married Susannah Pratt.
