1 Feb 1908 Saco, York, Maine. 37 Spruce St. widow of Lemuel Coolbroth, daughter of Asa Merrill (Railroadman) and ____ Berry of Influenza + Senility [5]

In the death of Mrs. Betsey Coolbroth, which occured at her house 37 Spruce street, yesterday morning, has passed away who though old in years was young in heart and one that will be sadly missed, not only in the family circle, but by a host of friends, both old and young. Mrs Coolbroth was born in Saco May 4 1815, the daughter of Asa and Mariam Merrill. When quite a young lady she was married to Lemuel Coolbroth, who was one of the founders of the old Portland, Saco, and Portsmouth Railroad. Mr Coolbroth was connected with the railroad for about 51 years and was one of the best known railroad men in this City. Mrs Coolbroth had not been ill for any long period, but had been up and around the house until within a few days and the cause of her death is attributed to her advanced age. She was the mother of 10 children, seven of whom survive her as follows: Mary Elizabeth who is the wife of Albion C Pettingill of Knightville; Elbridge of Curwensville, Penn; Mrs Martha J Barker of Knightville; Edwin who is a resident of this City and who is the general yardmaster of the Boston and Maine Railroad; Charles Cuthbert Coolbroth also of this City and an engineer on the Boston and Maine; Mrs. Alice McDonald and Mrs annie Baker. She is also survived by one brother Levi Merrill of Saco. Mrs Coolbroth was possessed of a very pleasant and affectionate disposition that endeared her to all and her heart and hand was always open to those who were in affliction. She has gone from this life, but her memory will be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her for many years to come.[6][7]
