Biography

Bennett Davis Merritt was born in 1867, son of James Wesley and Susan (Cartwright) Merritt[1]. He married first to Laura Brown in 1883 and moved to Oklahoma where he had a small merchantile business. Their two sons died young, and Laura died in 1911. Bennett married at 45 years old to 17-year-old Mary Belle Easley in 1912; they had 13 children[2]. ... He passed away in 1939 and is buried in Sturdivant Cemetery, Palo Pinto County, Texas. [3]
