Montgomery Co, Alabama Probate Court Minutes (Vol 12, pages 485-486)- Elizabeth J Merritt presents Gabriel's will to the court after his death. The will mentions Elizabeth J Merritt as the widow of Gabriel Merritt. It also lists the following children of Gabriel: Joshua & Ingram Merritt, who reside in Montgomery Co, AL; George W Merritt, who resides in Tallapoosa Co, AL; Hinyard Merritt, who resides in Texas; Nicholas Merritt, who resides in Louisiana; Dicey Bruce, who resides in Pike County, AL; Eliza Carslisle, wife of Jefferson Carslisle of Pike County, AL; Rebecca Bruce, wife of Joseph Bruce of Pike County, AL; Elizabeth Rollo, wife of Laurence Rollo of Milton, Santa Rosa, FL.
