Thomas was born in 1721. He is the son of Thomas Merritt and Abigail Woodworth. ^[1]

Thomas (27) married Jane Nichols (17) (born about October 8, 1732 in Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay Colony; daughter of Thomas Nichols and Elizabeth (Stoddard) Nichols) on November 2, 1749 in Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts.^[2] Their children were:
